The Solution Engineering Team focuses on solving complex technology problems across LINE’s products and ecosystem. As experts who understand both product and technology deeply, we collaborate with product owners and engineers to build solutions that truly address real user pain points in Thailand and beyond.

We are looking for a Solution Engineer Lead who not only possesses strong technical foundations but also thrives in mentoring others, leading engineering discussions, and driving solution design across teams. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction, team culture, and delivery quality within the Solution Engineering group.

 

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Solution Engineers to deliver scalable and high-quality solutions.
• Define and maintain technical standards, best practices, and code quality across projects.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code and design reviews, and foster a learning-driven team culture.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, TPMs, and other engineering leads to align technical decisions with business goals.
• Drive project planning, task prioritization, and resource allocation within the team.
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement through retrospectives and internal knowledge sharing.

 

Technical Ownership

• Oversee solution architecture design and ensure alignment with LINE’s overall ecosystem strategy.
• Take ownership of high-impact technical decisions and lead discussions on architecture trade-offs.
• Contribute to development where necessary—especially for complex or critical components.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and APIs to ensure performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and solve challenging problems that may not have existing references or documentation.
• Advocate for strong engineering fundamentals such as testing, observability, CI/CD, and system resilience.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (front-end, back-end, QA, UX, TPM, PO) to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Translate business and user requirements into clear technical plans for the team.
• Partner with other leads and managers to define and evolve Solution Engineering’s roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong experience in software engineering with a solid understanding of software development fundamentals (Git, CI/CD, Testing, etc.).
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Golang, JavaScript/Node.js, Java, Rust, Elixir, etc.).
• Experience designing and implementing both NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, etc.) and RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.) solutions.
• Experience with containerization and microservice architecture (Docker).
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and programming languages.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of software design principles (OOP, SOLID, ACID, KISS, YAGNI, Design Patterns).
• Experience with distributed systems and high-performance backend architectures.
• Familiarity with search systems (Elasticsearch) and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with container orchestration and service mesh (Kubernetes, Istio).
• Experience in data platforms or processing pipelines (Spark, Hadoop, Hive).
• Familiarity with GraphQL and modern API design principles.
• Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or Senior Engineer managing technical direction or people.
