LINE was launched as a messaging app in June 2011 to connect friends, families and loved ones. From there, it quickly grew, broadening its range of mobile-first services to include lifestyle, fintech, Web3, contents, e-commerce, gaming, entertainment, AI, and more.
Today, LINE is a “life platform” that supports all aspects of our users’ lives. By offering diversified services and leveraging a “hyper-localization” strategy, LINE Messenger has become the No. 1 messaging app in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, and is loved by users all over the world.
In October 2023, LY Corporation was launched in Japan following the integration of LINE Corporation, Z Holdings Corporation and Yahoo Japan Corporation. LY Corporation operates LINE in Japan, while LINE Plus, LINE Taiwan, LINE Thailand, and LINE Indonesia are LY Corporation subsidiaries.
Outside of Japan, LINE’s offices in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and other locations are focused on expanding and developing LINE's global businesses. LINE’s employees around the world work closely in areas such as engineering, planning, design, sales and marketing, and communications.
