Three LINE Fintech affiliates are based in KRAFTON Tower in Pangyo: LINE BIZ Plus, LINE Financial Plus, and “unblock” corp. One of their defining events are the quarterly town hall meetings that they call “FinStory,” bringing together the LINERs who work on fintech to share their views on the company, its vision and other issues. It’s also a good way to celebrate good news, encouraging everyone by sharing the successes of their colleagues.
Starting with the first event on Sept. 14, 2018, there have been seven FinStories held so far. So, let’s check out the fun!
The beginning of FinStory
The year 2018 was particularly meaningful for LINE Fintech, as this was the year the global cryptocurrency exchange BITFRONT (then called BITBOX) launched and unblock corp. was officially established. It was also the year that the fintech business was fully initiated through the share subscription agreement with KEB Hana Bank Indonesia. As each affiliate had been busy working on the project, we had no opportunity to communicate and interact with each other, even though we had worked together in the same building. Our solution was the create FinStory, a place for sharing fintech-related vision and issues for everyone at LINE Fintech and to enhance business synergy.

as LINERs gathered to share their progress and ask questions to management. In addition, we gave out awards to recognize the efforts of those who contributed to the launch of BITBOX services, and held a lucky draw.
FinStory grows and evolves
After that successful first event, FinStory quickly grew. In order to improve the understanding of what each organization does, we added more speakers and implemented the Spotlight event, plus we added catering services, with complimentary beer and wine.

LINE Financial’s CEO, announced the current state of the project.

at Seoul National University, was invited to speak on "Are We Leading a Happy Life, a Good Life?”
Fifth FinStory (Year-End 2019)
The last FinStory of 2019 was extra-ambitious and rich in content, as it marked the end of the year. LINE Fintech made an effort to create special memories for everyone through a variety of events, such as making Christmas cards and writing thank-you letters, a flea market, as well as Remember 2019 (with a photo wall).
COVID-19 can’t stop FinStory
With the outbreak of COVID-19 in Korea in February 2020, FinStory for 1Q 2020 had to be cancelled. However, we were determined to go on, so the following quarter we created the all-online FinStory. Although it was an online event, the event was every bit as successful as the offline FinStories had been, as LINERs caught up with each other and quizzes were given (with the winners getting prizes). This edition of FinStory was especially meaningful because we were joined by Injoon Hwang, the newly appointed global fintech CEO, who talked about the company’s future plans.
As you can see, FinStory has grown into an important part of the LINE Fintech experience. We’re looking forward to the next one, and we hope to see you there.
