LINE is committed to user privacy and compliance with data protection regulations. This position is involved from the early service planning stages, oversees how user data is to be processed throughout the service provision, and ensures that our data management practice complies with data protection regulations, and the company’s data policies.
Knowledge of privacy and personal data protection is mandatory for this position. Furthermore, to be capable of fulfilling the relevant roles and responsibilities, candidate needs to have at least basic IT understanding.
This position will cooperate with security, legal, planning, government relations, public relations, customer care, and engineering departments.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal consultation regarding privacy and personal data protection
- Perform privacy impact assessment to ensure that LINE services and campaigns are in compliance with the local personal data protection regulations as well as internal policies
- Engage in service design review and provide privacy-friendly suggestions to protect LINE users’ personal data
- Prepare and maintain LINE’s up-to-date privacy policies in collaboration with local stakeholders and global teams
- Collaborate with local stakeholders and global teams to handle privacy and data protection issues
- Process in compliance with local regulations and internal policies the personal data-related inquiries from the governments and users
- Provide the relevant teams with up-to-date privacy regulations and the enforcement landscape
- Represent LINE in case of personal data-related disputes
- Provide security and privacy awareness training to employees
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, IT security, or a relevant field
- 3+ years of legal practice in consulting firms, government agencies, and/or in-house companies
- Familiarity with Thailand Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
- Basic understanding of the internet, instant messengers, web/mobile services, and encryption technology
- Working experience in privacy and data protection
- Team orientation and the ability to communicate with teams from different countries/departments
- Well-organized, with the ability to manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner
- Ability to adapt to working in a fast-paced environment
- High proficiency in English, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
- Open-mindedness and common sense
- Reliable communication and negotiation skills
- Understanding of EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other privacy regulations in South East Asia
- Knowledge in Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and their practices
- Well-organized and able to manage and execute numerous projects simultaneously in a timely manner
- Flexibility and willingness to work on various topics from complex matters to daily routine tasks
- Japanese or Korean language proficiency
