Position Description
[Role Purpose]
The Communications Manager serves as a proactive communications advisor to business teams, developing and executing PR and external communications strategies that strengthen media understanding and favorability, increase visibility, and protect reputation. The role requires a strong understanding of business priorities, proactive identification of communications opportunities, trusted counsel to business leaders, and independent management of media relations and issues and crisis communications.

It combines strategic communications and business advisory, proactive PR planning and storytelling, media relations and external engagement, business leader and media interview support, issues and reputation management, and crisis communications.
Responsibilities
1. Business & PR Communications
- Communications Strategy, Advisory & Storytelling: Understand business priorities, identify newsworthy opportunities and reputational considerations, and develop proactive PR strategies and compelling narratives that strengthen understanding, favorability, and visibility.
- Media Relations & Engagement: Build trusted media relationships and lead outreach, pitching, briefings, press materials, and ongoing engagement to secure credible coverage.
- Business Leader & Interview Support: Advise and prepare business leaders for media interviews and external engagements, including strategy, key messages, Q&A, briefing, coordination, and real-time support.
- Cross-functional Communications: Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure messaging and communications plans are accurate, timely, coordinated, and aligned with company priorities.
2. Issues & Crisis Communications
- Issues, Social Sentiment & Reputation Management: Use available monitoring inputs to quickly assess emerging discussions and reputational risks; review user-facing announcements in advance, advise on messaging, and recommend or take timely communications actions to prepare for or address potential negative reactions.
- Crisis Communications & Coordination: Independently manage communications responses for issues and crises, including situation assessment, messaging, holding statements, Q&A and media inquiries, while aligning facts, response strategy and escalation with Business, Legal, Public Policy and other relevant teams.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or related fields, with demonstrated experience managing communications programs independently.
- Strong understanding of media relations and the Taiwan media landscape, with the ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with journalists and media stakeholders.
- Proven ability to operate as a proactive communications advisor, understand business priorities, identify PR opportunities, and translate complex business topics into clear and compelling external narratives.
- Experience supporting senior leaders in media interviews or other external engagements, including message development, Q&A preparation, briefing, and communications counsel.
- Hands-on experience in issues and crisis communications, with strong judgment and the ability to respond effectively under pressure and in sensitive situations.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align multiple internal teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Chinese, with strong attention to message quality, accuracy, and audience relevance.
- Strong business English communication skills, with the ability to independently handle written correspondence and communicate effectively in meetings with regional and global stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to apply them effectively to improve communications practices and productivity is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technology, digital platforms, consumer internet, cultural and creative industries, content, gaming, or other fast-moving consumer-facing industries is preferred.
- Experience working in an in-house communications role and collaborating directly with business or product teams is preferred.
- Experience working at a PR agency, or managing and collaborating with PR agencies, is a plus.
- Experience working with regional or global teams in a multinational environment is a plus.
